Shipping Policy Last Updated: September 15, 2024
At Shadows Plate, we aim to ship orders quickly and reliably using trusted shipping partners. Please review the information below to understand our shipping practices and responsibilities.
-
Shipping Methods All orders are shipped using reputable carriers. Standard and expedited shipping options are available at checkout, where pricing is dynamically calculated based on destination, package weight, and selected delivery speed. Certain remote or hard-to-reach locations may incur additional shipping fees, which will be displayed before checkout is completed.
-
Handling & Processing Time In-stock, non-preorder items are typically processed within one (1) business day. During high-volume periods or unforeseen operational delays, processing may take up to seven (7) business days. Customers will be notified by email if significant delays occur. Preorder items ship once inventory becomes available. Estimated timelines are provided at checkout and may be updated if circumstances change.
-
Shipping Costs Shipping costs are calculated automatically at checkout based on the delivery address and selected shipping method. Customers are able to review all available options and pricing before finalizing their purchase. Customers requesting replacements outside of warranty coverage are responsible for all associated shipping costs.
-
Order Tracking Once an order has shipped, customers will receive a tracking number via email to monitor delivery progress. If tracking information is not received within a reasonable timeframe after placing an order, customers should contact our support team for assistance.
-
Estimated Delivery Times Delivery times vary depending on destination and shipping method selected. North America: approximately 9–12 business days for standard shipping International: approximately 9–20 business days Expedited shipping options may be available at checkout. Delivery estimates are not guarantees and may be affected by carrier delays, customs processing, weather, or other external factors.
-
Customs Duties, Import Fees & Customer Responsibilities International shipments may be subject to customs duties, taxes, and import fees, which are the sole responsibility of the customer. These charges are not included at checkout. Customers are responsible for verifying their country’s import requirements prior to placing an order. Shadows Plate is not responsible for customs-related delays, fees, or refusals. If a shipment is refused due to unpaid customs charges and returned, outbound and return shipping costs, along with a 15% handling and restocking fee, may be deducted from any eligible refund.
-
Responsibility for the Package Shadows Plate is responsible for the shipment until it reaches and clears the destination country’s customs authority. Once customs clearance is completed, responsibility for the package transfers to the customer. If issues arise with customs or local delivery carriers, we will assist where possible but cannot assume liability for delays, additional fees, or outcomes beyond our control.
-
Warranty & Damaged Packages All products include a tamper-evident warranty seal. If an item arrives damaged and the warranty seal remains intact, customers should contact us immediately with supporting documentation (photos of the product, packaging, and shipping label). Eligible claims may receive a replacement in accordance with our warranty and return policies. Once the warranty seal has been removed or tampered with, the warranty becomes void.
-
Email Notifications Order confirmations, shipping updates, and tracking information are sent via email. Customers are responsible for monitoring their inbox and spam folders. Shadows Plate is not responsible for missed communications due to email filters or incorrect contact information.
-
Delivery Issues & Claims If an order appears delayed, undelivered, or experiences tracking issues, customers should contact us promptly. We will coordinate with the carrier to investigate and assist where possible. All shipping-related claims must be submitted within thirty (30) days of delivery. Claims submitted after this period or without sufficient documentation may be denied.

Policy Updates Shadows Plate reserves the right to modify this Shipping Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date above.
Why This Version Works (Business Analysis)
While standard e-commerce stores have basic shipping policies, this document is quietly tailored to manage the unique risks of selling an international, high-controversy product. Here is why this specific structure works perfectly for the business:
-
The "Hot Potato" Customs Clause (Section 7): This is the most crucial part of the document. By stating that responsibility transfers to the customer the exact second it clears customs, Shadows Plate protects itself if local postal workers or domestic police seize the package before it hits the buyer's doorstep. They are legally declaring, "We got it into your country; what happens next is your problem."
-
The 15% Restocking Penalty (Section 6): High-risk, privacy-centric items often get rejected at international borders or abandoned by buyers who get cold feet about local laws. A 15% restocking fee plus deducting two-way shipping costs guarantees the business doesn't bleed cash on nervous or under-researched buyers.
-
The Tamper-Evident Seal (Section 8): For electronic or mechanical privacy plates, buyers frequently open them up, attempt a custom modification, break the unit, and then try to claim it "arrived damaged." The requirement of an intact, tamper-evident seal for transit claims completely shuts down fraudulent return requests while still keeping genuine transit damage covered.
-
Managing "Where is my package?" Anxiety (Section 5): Quoting a realistic 9–20 business days prevents customer service from being flooded with frantic emails 3 days after purchase, which is common for products that buyers are eager or anxious to receive.
